Seine River Cruises: A Magical Way to Experience Paris

An important commercial waterway, the River Seine is not only the historical and present-day lifeblood of Paris, but it also connects the City of Lights with other scenic locations. A Seine River cruise is a wonderful opportunity for first-time visitors or for those looking to experience the city from a different angle.

Day & Night Cruises on the Seine

Keep things central to Paris, with an assortment of river cruises to suit any itinerary, whether daytime or evening, intimate or gregarious. Take in the riverside delights with a romantic view of the Eiffel Tower and a glass of champagne. Combine a cruise with a Skip-the-Line sightseeing tour or a slice of nightlife with a cabaret at the Moulin Rouge. Or if an atmosphere is your preference, then enjoy a gourmet meal for brunch, lunch, or dinner on a dining cruise.

Seine Gourmet Restaurant Lunch & Dinner Cruises

Indeed, the gourmand will want to check out some of the delectable restaurant cruise offerings that boast luxurious lunch and dinner menus, featuring traditional French cuisine prepared fresh on board. The cruise itself combines gastronomic flavor experiences with a charming ambiance and panoramic views.

Paris Vacation Cruises, the City and Beyond

Or think big with splendid multi-day vacation cruise packages beginning or ending in Paris. Combine relaxation, guided sightseeing, wine tasting, and exploring historic sites and dramatic natural scenes. Take a leisurely excursion from glittering Paris to picturesque Normandy and back again with the option to hop the pond to London to continue your adventure. For the Central European experience, soak in the sights with a 14-day trip between Prague and Paris. Paris Walking Tours

Getting Out and About with Paris Walking Tours

When visiting Paris, you’ll want to be sure to see all the important sites. With this in mind, the best way to see Paris is on foot. It’s a visceral experience, a treat for the senses. And what better way to indulge than with one of the many walking tours available.

One-Day Sightseeing

From admiring the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo at the Louvre to cruising along the scenic River Seine; from enjoying panoramic views of the city and gourmet delights at the Eiffel Tower to exploring the awe-inspiring Notre Dame Cathedral: the One-Day Paris Sightseeing Tour will keep you on time and on track to tick off items from your historical, cultural, and architectural bucket lists.

Skip the Line

“Skip the Line” guided tours for Versailles Palace and Gardens, the Paris Catacombs, or the Musee d’Orsay  (as part of the Montmartre Impressionist Art Walking Tour ) will ensure that you’re able to bypass the long queues and focus on exploration, immersion, and inspiration at some of Paris’s most dramatic, haunting, and evocative historical sites.

Paris Food

A wonderful way to explore the culinary delights of Paris is the Paris Food Walking Tour, filled with gastronomic insight and plenty of opportunity for sampling artisanal bread and cheeses, foie gras, charcuterie, and, who can forget, a glass of excellent French wine.

Secret Sites and Hidden Gems

For those looking to experience a more intimate side of Paris away from the usual tourist destinations, the Secret Sites and Hidden Gems Walking Tour explores some of the city’s little-known treasures, from side streets by the Louvre and vibrant outdoor markets to effervescent cafes and shops in La Marais. It’s an opportunity to sample Paris off the beaten path.

Private City Tours

If you’re looking for something more personalized to your travel party, private city tours range from just the overview essentials to the comprehensive in-depth tours. Or focus on the high points and what’s important to you, like the Eiffel Tower Tour or the Paris Chocolate Tour. Museum tours ensure that you’ll get the most out of your visit, whether you’re seeing the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, the Orangerie, or some combination. And with district tours and tours outside of Paris, rest assured that you’re in good hands whether your explorations take you beyond the city center or the city limits.

DIY Paris

And finally, don’t be afraid to map out your own Paris walking tour with emphasis on history, literature, art, fashion, or architecture. The possibilities are limited only by the extent of your imagination.

Easy Day Trips From Paris

Essential Day Trips

Day trips that are worth the journey

Paris on its own is a magical city but it does not reflect all of France. For those also interested in beautiful day trips from the City of Lights, there are wonderful cities, towns, and villages to choose from. Easy to get to via train, bus, or car, the following recommendations will be worth your day — or two, if you like.

In Giverny, be ready to explore the place which inspired Monet. Simply purchase a ticket from Gare St. Lazare to Vernon and either rent a bike, or take a bus or taxi 5 kilometers away straight to Giverny. A painting-like pathway guides you into the town, leading to other scenic paths on the outskirts.

Versailles is most likely that other place you heard of when chatting about your trip to Paris. Louis XIV built his extravagant château here, the Palace of Versailles, with the most exquisite gardens that seem to flow on endlessly. Due to the inevitable international fame of Versailles, be sure to travel here when there are fewer tourists to save your time.
